This Vegan Irish Soda Bread is a delicious recipe for St Patrick to make the classic bread with only 4 plant-based ingredients!

It's ready in under 40 minutes and has the signature taste, crispy crust, and rich and dense crumbs that you expect.

Prepare the Vegan Buttermilk for the Vegan Irish Soda Bread by combining soy milk with apple cider vinegar in a large mixing bowl and setting it aside for 10 minutes.


Combine the dry Vegan Irish Soda Bread ingredient in a mixing bowl: wholemeal flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.


Whisk the Irish Soda Bread flour until all the flour lumps have been broken down. This prevents dry patches in the bread when it is cooked.


Pour the vegan buttermilk into the bowl with dry Irish Soda Bread ingredients. You don't have to do it gradually, it doesn't matter.


Use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to combine the batter until most of the buttermilk has been absorbed and it can be kneaded manually.


Once the batter has dried slightly, work it with your hands to knead it for a few minutes until you can form a large soda bread dough ball.


Transfer the Vegan Irish Soda Bread dough ball to your benchtop and sprinkle it with fresh all-purpose flour before kneading and rolling it.


Transfer the Soda Bread sough to a baking sheet lined with lightly oiled parchment paper and massage the dough to give it the right shape.


After cutting a deep cross on top of the Vegan Irish Soda Bread, bake it in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes at 430°F (220°C), until the top is crusty.
