As someone who is always on the go and striving to maintain a healthy lifestyle, I needed a snack that was not only convenient but also packed with protein to keep me energized throughout the day. That’s why I came up with this Protein Trail Mix recipe.
Unlike many store-bought options that are often loaded with sugars and artificial ingredients, this homemade mix is a perfect blend of protein-rich nuts, seeds, and natural sweeteners, providing a nutritious and satisfying snack ready in just 5 minutes.
It’s versatile, easy to customize, and ideal for anyone looking to boost their protein intake without sacrificing taste. Give it a try, and you’ll see why this trail mix stands out from the rest!
Ingredients and Substitutions
- Roasted Edamame – They are rich in protein and taste great. You can also use roasted pistacchio.
- Raw Cashews – Cashews are fine to eat raw.
- Raw Almonds – Or roasted peanuts if you prefer.
- Protein Cereals – I am using Cinnamon Catalina Crunch.
- Dried Cranberries – You can also use any other dried fruit.
- Pumpkin Seeds – or sunflower seeds.
- Dark Chocolate Chips – I pick vegan chocolate chips with over 70% of cocoa.
How to Make Protein Trail Mix
This is really easy to make; all you need to do is mix the ingredients. If you want to toss some seasoning on top.
Combine the ingredients in a small jar where you can store it.
Serve it on a large plate for a TV platter.
Changing The Flavors
You can change the flavor of your trail mix by doing the follow swaps or additions:
- Make a fruity one by adding chopped dried apricots, dates, or dried mango.
- Use whole grains like quinoa puffs of my Grain-Free Granola
- Season it with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.
- Aim for equal parts of nuts/seeds, dried fruits, and grains to keep it balanced.
